New creations… from Walmart, Apple and VW Canada

Walmart, “Unexpected guests”

Walmart isn’t just about gifts, it’s about groceries is the message in this new ad from Walmart. When a quiet Christmas gathering explodes into a “rager” thanks to a parade of unexpected guests, husband is sent to Walmart to grab party supplies. The spot is from Cossette, which debuted its first work (about toys) for the retail giant’s Canadian business last week—an all-the-feels ad about a lonely teddy bear who finds a home a Christmas.

Apple, “A little company”

Apple shows off its new Group Face Time functionality by hosting a group performance of quirky Elvis impersonators from around the world.

Burberry, “Close your eyes and think of Christmas”

Released earlier this month, the surrealist ad includes a number of big British stars including Kristin Scott Thomas, M.I.A, Matt Smith and Naomi Campbell. The ad is directed by Juno Calypso, who said she “wanted to portray a more realistic British Christmas, but still shot through a fantasy lens. The campaign takes you through all the key seasonal rituals, both good and bad. That’s what brings us together.”

Volkswagen, “Colour can change everything”

A reminder of the joys of print (sigh) from DDB Montreal which created this work for VW (which just moved its business to WPP). Colour is the thing here, obviously. According to the agency, owners of a new 2019 Jetta can choose one of 10 ambient interior lighting options to match their mood. The ads demonstrate how colour can change everything.
