Toronto art installation is the last straws for A&W
A&W has unveiled a public art installation at Toronto’s Union Station using the last of its plastic straws. The installation, made from its straws in its signature orange, consists of a sign reading “Change is good.” A&W is the first North American QSR chain to eliminate plastic straws, saying that the switch to paper will keep approximately 82 million plastic straws out of landfills each year. Its new paper straws are fully biodegradable, compostable and sustainably sourced, and can last between 2-3 hours in liquid before breaking down. The restaurant chain also uses compostable packaging, as well as real mugs, plates and cutlery in its more than 925 Canadian locations.
