Shopify’s first brand campaign encourages entrepreneurs

Who: Shopify and R/GA, with Traktor directing.

What: Using the tagline “Let’s make you a business,” this is the first mass branding campaign for the already ultra-successful e-commerce platform.

When & Where: Launching Monday and running through July in 12 markets in Canada and the U.S., the campaign includes TV, digital (video and social), out-of-home and radio (below).

How: The creative acknowledges the smouldering ambitions of wanna-be entrepreneurs, with headlines encouraging people to take the leap in launching the business and to use Shopify to make it a success. It includes an empty storefront covered with Shopify creative and the headline: “That business you thought of 3 months ago could be here.”

Why: Shopify has been moving to position itself as not just an e-commerce platform but a multi-purpose tools and solutions provider for entrepreneurs and startup brands.

And we quote: “Starting and running a business unlocks incredible freedom for entrepreneurs, but it can also be a daunting process. Shopify exists to help merchants every step of the way, and our new campaign is meant to inspire future entrepreneurs to start their own journey.” —Jeff Weiser, chief marketing officer, Shopify.
