Media Experts has promoted Karel Wegert to executive vice-president, effective immediately. Wegert joins the agency’s executive team, and will continue to report directly to president Robert Jenkyn.
Most recently the agency’s senior vice-president of digital, Weger joined Media Experts in 2007 with a mandate to establish the agency’s search marketing practice. In his 13 years with the agency, he has helped launch its business intelligence offering and the programmatic trading desk, Xpeto.
More recently, he spearheaded the launch of the agency’s audience and analytics service.
In a release, Media Experts said that Wegert will use his digital acumen to “future-proof” the agency and its clients’ business. He will also contribute to the agency’s overall direction, helping identify growth opportunities and providing strategic guidance for clients.
The agency said that Wegert’s appointment reflects its commitment to maintaining its position as a “trailblazer” in the areas of digital and media analytics, both of which have been “greatly abetted” under his leadership.
“Karel possesses a deep understanding of how the digital world works and where it’s headed next,” said Jenkyn. “He is laser focused on ensuring that our agency offerings are custom-built to deliver on each clients’ specific business objectives.
“His impressive track record of evolving and expanding our digital practice over the years has made him an essential pillar in our overall business growth, a trusted resource to our clients, and a respected thought leader in the industry.”
Wegert is among the 40% of Media Experts’ employees that have been with the agency for five years or longer, with the agency claiming that it has one of the best employee retention rates of any Canadian agency.
