Lysol and Costco top list of Canadians’ most trusted brands during COVID: Field Agent study

Field Agent Canada has compiled a (highly subjective) list of the brands that are gaining Canadians’ trust during the COVID-19 crisis.

The findings are based on an online survey of 604 (predominantly female) Canadians, in which Field Agent asked them an open-ended question: “List the three brands that have most gained your trust since the start of the COVID-19 situation in Canada.”

The resulting list is highly reflective of the times we’re living in, with cleaning products, grocery retailers and quick-service restaurant brands the most cited.

Lysol garnered the most mentions of any brand with 139, followed by Costco with 99 and McDonald’s with 70. Rounding out the top 10 were Walmart (66 mentions), Tim Hortons (55), the Great Canadian Superstore (54), Loblaws (51), President’s Choice (41), Clorox (34) and Sobeys (34).

It’s not surprising to see so many retailers on the list, since they have emerged as a “lifeline” for Canadians since the crisis began, says Field Agent’s general manager, Jeff Doucette.

“Some retailers are doing a really good job communicating with Canadians, and that’s probably paying dividends in terms of trust,” he says. “It looks like their hard efforts to keep the food supply chain safe and plentiful is gaining favour with the population.”
