Laura Pearce joins Google Canada

After five years with Twitter Canada, including the past two years as its head of marketing, Laura Pearce has joined Google Canada as its marketing lead.

Pearce is an accomplished media marketer whose career has included stops at Blue Ant Media, AOL Canada, Postmedia Network and CanWest MediaWorks.

She replaces Fab Dolan, who spent nearly six years as head of marketing in Canada before taking on a new role within the company in March as global marketing director for Android.

“We are excited to welcome Laura Pearce to our Google Canada team,” said Lisa Gevelber, Google’s chief marketing officer for the Americas and founder of its digital literacy workshops division, Grow with Google.

“Her expertise across digital and multi-platform brand, product and performance marketing will be a huge asset to our efforts in Canada and will also be key to supporting our small business economic recovery efforts and digital skills training programs.”

In a statement to The Message, Google said that Pearce will manage B2B marketing teams spanning agency, customer and acquisitions, as well as the consumer marketing teams responsible for various products/platforms including Android, YouTube, search and hardware.

She will also be responsible for supporting the company’s ongoing efforts around economic recovery, with a particular emphasis on supporting small businesses and providing access to digital skills training.

“I am honoured to be joining the Google Canada team and having the opportunity to work on so many facets of the Google business—from hardware to YouTube to media,” said Pearce. “The Google Canada marketing team has been doing amazing work and I am looking forward to what comes next.”
