The social-impact creative agency Public has hired Jill Applebaum as CCO for North America, based in New York.
Applebaum’s most recent agency post was with Wunderman Thompson New York, where she was chief creative officer. Prior to that, she spent nearly four years with Facebook as global creative strategist. She has also held senior creative positions at several of the industry’s best known creative shops, including Barbarian, JWT, FCB and Y&R, picking up hardware and recognition from all of the top awards shows (including a Cyber Grand Prix in Cannes), as well as being named to Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business list, and Business Insider’s 5th Most Creative Woman in business.
“Jill’s big-brand experience, coupled with her big heart, wit, drive and creative curiosity will accelerate corporations and organizations working toward profit with purpose,” said CEO Phil Haid, who launched Public as a purpose-driven agency in 2008, long before purpose became an industry buzzword.
“We’ve helped transform corporate reputations with social responsibility campaigns. We’ve driven profits with sustainability programs,” says the agency website.
Public expanded to New York City in 2019, and currently has about 40 employees working for clients including J&J, Mejuri, Rivian, Crocs, Canadian Tire, and Royal Bank of Canada.
“Helping authentic brands advance their social and environmental impact while simultaneously cleansing my karma was an opportunity I just couldn’t resist,” said Applebaum.
