Shapiro named CD at Wasserman

Vancouver-based independent creative agency Wasserman has hired Neil Shapiro as creative director. He succeeds Bronwyn Mackay, who has returned to her native New Zealand.

After spending a few years with John St. after leaving school, Shapiro moved to Vancouver and spent most of his career with DDB, rising to group creative director before spending the last couple of years as a freelance CD.

During his time at DDB, Shapiro contributed to successful campaigns for a number of the agency’s top clients, including BCAA, Destination Canada, ICBC, Milk Producers of Western Canada, Volkswagen, and BC Hydro.

“[Shapiro’s] curiosity for understanding people, uncovering human truths and insights is part of what excited us about him, and he is really aligned with our agency’s focus,” said agency president Cam Landell. “I know Neil is going to push the agency for exceptional creative work, and I look forward to the future as we continue elevate our creative and strategic offering.”
