Tim Hortons will hit the lake this long weekend

Tim Hortons will, ahem, launch a new activation on one of Ontario’s biggest and most popular lakes this long weekend.

The “Boat-Thru” will be handing out free cold drinks to boaters on Lake Scugog on Saturday and Sunday. Sitting atop a pontoon boat, and tied up along a dock at Beacon Marina near Port Perry, the floating Tims will be handing out new products added to the summer drink menu: Blackberry Yuzu Sparkling Quencher, Orange Ginger Sparkling Quencher, Caramel Toffee Cold Brew, and Vanilla Iced Latte.

“Canadians love hitting the water and we thought this would be a super-cool opportunity to recognize how fleeting our summers are,” said Heather MacLeod, marketing director at Tim Hortons. “With the Boat-Thru you don’t need to leave the water to enjoy a cold drink from Tims.”

While Tims said it’s expecting a large number of boats on the water for the annual Scugog Regatta, the Boat Thru—open to everything from motor boats to paddleboarders—will be promoted through PR and owned social media.

“We developed the Boat-Thru concept as a way of tying our delicious and refreshing cold drink lineup to an activity that’s synonymous with summer – boating,” said MacLeod. “As with all of our programs, our goal is to show some love to our loyal guests and offer them something refreshing and delicious in a unique way, while also celebrating iconic elements of Canadian culture.”
